Silver Screen Paint Reviews

AV Factory

Really impressed with the ultra finish and image quality. You definitely need a quality 3D projector. My setup at uses a Epson 5050ub which I think gets great value out of the painted screen.

Liquid Art

This Silver Screen paint is definitely designed for low and medium ambient light environments, with a high performing projector. With the right setup it delivers a high level of reflection.

FAQ's

This product can only be spray-applied. It can never be applied by roller or brush. Simply spray the paint onto desired smooth surfaces.

The Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC) is a measure of how much sound energy is absorbed by a material when sound waves pass through it. In our testing, the SAC is being measured for a 12mm gypsum board, which is a common building material.

The SAC can vary with the frequency of the sound waves that are passing through the material. Different frequencies of sound waves have different wavelengths, and these wavelengths can interact with the material in different ways. Therefore, the SAC values provided are a range of values, as the SAC will vary depending on the frequency of the sound waves being absorbed. In our tests we recorded the following results:Unpainted Board α = 0.04-0.07 Painted Board α = 0.04-0.07

The values provided are for an unpainted 12mm gypsum board and a painted 12mm gypsum board. The α values of 0.04-0.07 for both the unpainted and painted board indicate the range of SAC values for these materials. This means that, when sound waves pass through a 12mm gypsum board, some of the sound energy will be absorbed by the material, with the amount of absorption falling within the range of 0.04-0.07 depending on the frequency of the sound waves. However, it also indicates that each of our paints are acoustically transparent as there is no deviation from the standard board to the painted.

Our entire range of paints is compatible with both 2D and 3D projectors, ensuring optimal performance regardless of the projection mode. When projecting a 3D image onto our paint, it seamlessly delivers the intended effect, creating an immersive viewing experience when paired with 3D glasses.
The gain value of the Silver Screen Paint is the highest in our range by far, designed specifically for 3D projection, because of its unique properties achieved by the silver technology. This means a very high level of light reflectivity without interfering with the polarity of the reflected light delivering an exceptional 3D experience.
3D projectors work by projecting two slightly different images which overlap on the screen. These images are passed through special optical filters which results in the light being polarised in a different way for each of the projections. When you view the two images through special 3D glasses, each lens blocks one of the images, meaning that your left eye sees one image and your right eye the other image. It's therefore really important that the projection screen you use does not change the polarity of the light if you are using a 3D projector. This silver screen paint products are "polarity preserving" which means that the image you see will be exactly the same polarity as is intended, preserving the full 3D effect.
Smart Silver Screen Paint is suitable for use on plaster, wallboards, wood, metal and composites; it can be applied to fabrics that are under tension. For interior use only.
We recommend applying Smart Silver Screen Paint onto a previously primed or painted surface. Prime bare, untreated surfaces with two coats of Smart White Primer.
Wear a respirator face mask as Silver Screen Paint is a spray applied paint. Use the gloves supplied in the kit while applying the paint. Additionally, safety glasses should be worn. As with any painting process, ensure the room is ventilated.
The recommended lighting setup for Smart Silver Screen Paint is low or medium ambient lighting.
Smart Silver Screen Paints are suitable for use with 3D projectors ( HD, 4K, and 8K Projector) above 3000 lumens.
During the spraying process ensure the area is clear of people as the spraying process like all paint that is spray applied will create a spray mist which with disappear after a few minutes with ventilation after the spraying is completed and the area ventilated it is completely safe. There is a very low odor during the drying process and the VOC level is low.

Use warm water to clean the paint.
Over time dust can gather on your silver screen paint - use a damp cloth ( water ) with no detergent and dap the surface clean and allow it to air dry.

Yes, Silver Screen Paint is completely safe to use. This Paint is low VOC, solvent free, PFOA & PFOS free and isocyanates free. It meets the highest environmental standards and has been independently certified for Fire performance and VOC Use the gloves supplied in the kit while applying Smart Silver Screen Paint. As with any paint product we recommend wearing gloves during application.

Smart Silver Screen Paint is not flammable, making it suitable for use in schools and offices.

Silver screen paint is designed to enhance light reflectively and image resolution, especially in rooms with ambient light. It is more reflective than white paint, which can help to improve image quality. White projector screen paint, on the other hand, is more suitable for dark rooms or environments with minimal ambient light.

A silver screen is better suited for environments with low to medium ambient light, as it can help to reject that light and improve image quality. A white screen, on the other hand, is better suited for bright rooms or environments with high ambient light.

The flashpoint of the Silver Screen Paint is above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

The primary use cases for Silver Screen Paint is for 3D projection including home theatres and commercial theatres.

Yes, the Silver Screen Paint is designed for commercial applications, including movie theatres, conference rooms, and museums.

Yes, Silver Screen Paint can be more cost-effective than a traditional screen, especially for large or custom screen sizes.

Typically the process of application is done over two days. Day one is preparation and priming. Day two is spray application of the Silver Screen Paint, however application in one day is possible provided the first coat is touch dry before the application of the second coat.

Silver Screen Paint Installation

Prepare the Surface

All surfaces to be painted should be clean, dry and free from loose materials.

Measure the area you wish to paint and clearly mark it using masking tape.

Prime bare, untreated surface.s with two coats of Smart White Primer.

Fill any defects with decorators filler and sand smooth.

Apply a second coat of primer and lightly sand the surface with a smooth sandpaper.

Apply the Silver Screen Paint

This product must be spray applied and is applied in two coats (a base coat, then a top coat).

The paint should be at room temperature.

Do not thin the paint with water.

Always wear a respirator mask when spraying in addition to standard PPE.

Use an airless sprayer.

Recommended spray tip size of 1.6mm - 2.0mm.

Each pack coverage includes 20% extra for overspray and loss in spray lines

First Coat

Stir the paint well - Do not add water

Spray your first coat of Silver Screen paint with a spray fan size of 15cm - 20cm and with a minimum wet film thickness of 80 microns. 2000 PSI or higher spray pressure

The spraying gun should be 30 cm from the surface during spraying.

Allow the first coat to fully dry (approx. 4 hours at 20°) if colder allow additional time before overcoating.

Finish Coat

Spray the finish coat with a minimum wet film thickness of 80 microns

Ensure a good overlap of each pass of the spray at 50% to ensure good coverage

Spraying Notes:

For small applications on smaller screens under 4.5m2 use a Gravity Fed Pot Gun to minimise waste as an airless spraying equipment will use a lot of product to fill the spray pump and gun line.

For Gravity Fed Pot Guns we recommend a spray tip: 1.6mil with the pressure set to 60PSI. Remember not to add water to the paint

After 24 hours our Silver Screen Paint is ready to use.

You can request a sample pack if you want to sample our products’ performance first.
